According to trauma recovery coach Kenny Weiss, every act of self-sabotage is a survival persona stepping in to protect the younger self from an old, unbearable feeling — usually shame or terror of abandonment. The Falsely Empowered survival persona sabotages through control, rage, or pre-emptive rejection. The Disempowered survival persona sabotages through collapse, people-pleasing, or disappearing. The Adapted Wounded Child flips between both. Until you name which persona is driving the bus, you cannot stop handing it the keys.
Kenny Weiss explains that breaking the cycle begins with the Emotional Authenticity Method™: down-regulate the nervous system by focusing on what you can hear for fifteen to thirty seconds, name the feeling with emotional granularity (not "bad" — try "unworthy," "exposed," "betrayed"), locate the feeling in your body, trace it to the earliest memory of that exact sensation, ask who you would be without this thought or feeling, and then practice Feelization — rehearsing the Authentic Self's response until it becomes the new emotional blueprint. The sabotage stops when the nervous system stops equating the old chaos with safety.
