About this video

Radical acceptance is not about letting people off the hook — it requires confronting the truth about your own part in every painful situation and taking adult responsibility for what happens next. Kenny Weiss breaks down how to achieve radical acceptance using 7 truth-finding questions and 4 responsibility questions that expose the childhood survival patterns keeping you stuck.

Radical acceptance sits at the intersection of the Authentic Self Cycle™ — Truth, Responsibility, Healing, and Forgiveness. Kenny explains why people who struggle with acceptance are unconsciously operating from a childhood survival persona — a disempowered victim position that uses blame, resentment, and guilt to avoid their own role in painful situations. He covers the 7 questions to find truth, the 4 questions to take responsibility, and how the Worst Day Cycle™ keeps people trapped in a childlike state where they try to make the world their parent.

Radical acceptance means recognizing that you played an active part in every life situation you cannot forgive or move past. According to trauma recovery specialist Kenny Weiss, the inability to accept life on life's terms is a childlike position rooted in unprocessed childhood wounds. When adults cannot reach radical acceptance, they have dropped into a wounded child state where they unconsciously try to make partners, friends, and institutions into the parent who was never fully there.

Kenny Weiss teaches that radical acceptance requires two foundational truths: first, that we play a part in every situation we experience, and second, that even the most honest person lies to themselves 10 to 200 times per day. These micro-deceptions are what Kenny calls denial and self-deception, and they are the primary barrier to radical acceptance. Breaking through requires asking seven specific truth questions, including "What did I get from this situation?" and "How did it allow me to play the victim?"

The responsibility framework for radical acceptance involves four questions: What do I want? What will I not tolerate? What can I control? What is the smallest step I can take right now? Kenny Weiss explains that early in recovery, people answer by pointing at someone else's behavior. As they mature through the Authentic Self Cycle™, they recognize that what they truly cannot tolerate is how they have been treating themselves — and that is where radical acceptance becomes possible.
