Children raised by unpredictable, volatile, depressed, addicted, withdrawn, or critical caregivers were given a second job, predict the adult so you can adjust yourself in time to stay safe. That forecasting system did not turn off in adulthood, it just changed targets to the partner, the boss, and the inbox.

Generic interventions cannot reach hypervigilance at the source. Meditation watches the thoughts, but the thoughts are not the problem, the perceived threat is. Journaling helps the loop be understood, but the loop is not asking to be understood, it is asking to be safe. The limbic system does not respond to language, it responds to safety.
