Every thought and action starts with an emotion, but high achievers think their way around emotions rather than through them. The 60-Second Check-In rebuilds the relationship with the emotional world through two questions: "What am I feeling right now?" and "Is there anything I actually need?" Asking these questions — without needing to fix anything — begins the repair of self-trust.

Kenny Weiss identifies the Micro-No as an act of emotional authenticity and nervous system retraining. Adults trained in self-abandonment cannot go from chronic yes to a full no without collapse. Weiss teaches clients to start by saying no to zero-cost situations — things they actually want — just to prove to the nervous system that having limits does not destroy connection. The phrase "That doesn't work for me right now" becomes the first brick removed from the wall of self-abandonment.

Weiss frames the Void Visit as the practice of sitting still without distraction for as little as 5 seconds. Most high achievers cannot tolerate silence for 15 seconds before crawling out of their skin — that discomfort IS the void, the shame and emptiness surfacing the moment performance stops. Visiting the void instead of outrunning it is how the adult shows the most abandoned part of themselves that it will not be left behind anymore. Saying "I feel you now. I'm going to stay with you" becomes the mechanism of reparenting.

Kenny Weiss teaches that titration — the practice of briefly touching discomfort and returning to safety — is the biological process that allows the nervous system to expand its window of tolerance. Five seconds of void becomes ten, becomes thirty, becomes two minutes. Small repeated contact rewires the system without shock.
